The Turkey Shoot event began soon after the Lakes Course opened in 1998. Members Jerry Betker and Ivan Hjortness spearheaded this effort and began what has been a longstanding fall tradition at Lake Arrowhead.
This event, scheduled for Thursday, October 21st, utilizes a scramble format but includes an interesting twist. The front nine of the Lakes Course is played backwards which creates some unusual pathways and routes to the fairways and greens. This fun outing, which is open to all, culminates with a chili feed and awards back at the Pines clubhouse.
The prizes for the Turkey Shoot have always been 15-18 lb turkeys but this year, due to a shortage of turkeys, that may be cost prohibitive thus we will look at chickens or cornish hens. The last place team has always received the not so coveted "Wiennie Award". Sign up in the Pro Shop to be part of this fun tradition.
